American Auto Trail-Terre Haute Columbus Cincinnati Trail (Batesville to Greensburg IN)
This travel route begins in Batesville, Indiana, and travels along Indiana Highway 46 to Greensburg. The route explores Terre Haute-Columbus-Cincinnati Trail, which traveled across southern Indiana between Cincinnati just over the eastern border and Terre Haute which stands just before the western. This section of Indiana was the scene of a great amount of conflict between the continually advancing settlers of Ohio and Kentucky and the Native Americans who inhabited these lands. The proximity to the natural boundary of the Ohio River also saw this region become a center of activity during the War of 1812 and the American Civil War.
