This travel route follows the previous route of the Bankhead Highway from Hope to Prescott, Arkansas. Previous to the Bankhead, this region was traversed by the Caddo tribe of Native Americans, American explorers along the Trammel Trace and Southwest Trail, and the Cairo & Fulton Railroad.
