This American Auto Trail explores along the former route of the Atchison & Nebraska Railroad.
The trail follows Kansas Highway 7 from Atchison north to the Nebraska state line.
It continues a short distance into Nebraska to Rulo with much of the latter part of the route alongside the Missouri River.
